An entire South Bay neighborhood lights up for the holidays — thirty years of synchronized homes, glittering Chinese Elms, and blocks of holiday spirit, free to walk or drive.

Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights is one of the longest-running neighborhood holiday displays in the South Bay. The Seaside Ranchos neighborhood in Torrance — known affectionately as Sleepy Hollow — has been decorating for the season for more than thirty years. The display is now officially produced by the Seaside Neighborhood Association under the current branding Seaside Holiday Lights, so families searching either name are looking at the same beloved neighborhood walk.
What started as residents wrapping the neighborhood’s distinctive Chinese Elm trees with small white lights has grown into a blocks-long extravaganza. Robert Road is the heart of the display, with Doris Way, the side streets between Linda Drive and Sharynne Lane, and surrounding blocks stretching the festive footprint over multiple streets.
Walking the neighborhood at a slow pace, you’ll find everything from elegant white-light traditional displays to high-energy themed homes featuring inflatables, projection mapping, and animatronics. The display runs nightly from the weekend after Thanksgiving through early January.
Yes — walking or driving through the neighborhood is completely free. Many homes accept optional donations for charity, but there is no admission cost.
Park along Pacific Coast Highway or adjacent Torrance streets outside the neighborhood and walk in. Driving through is allowed but congested, especially on weekends — walking is the better way to experience it.
Nightly from the weekend after Thanksgiving through early January, typically 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
A full unhurried walk through the heart of the neighborhood takes 45 minutes to an hour. The footprint spans several blocks — you’ll want time to stop and look at the more elaborate displays.
Very — the unhurried walking pace, the variety of displays, and the family atmosphere make it ideal. Strollers are welcome; sidewalks are good. Just be ready for crowds on Friday and Saturday nights.
