South Coast Botanic Garden’s Astra Lumina: An Enchanted Night Walk transforms the Palos Verdes grounds into an immersive celestial light experience — a journey through illuminated trees, light-art installations, and a glowing walk through nature.

Astra Lumina: An Enchanted Night Walk is South Coast Botanic Garden’s signature evening light experience — a ticketed immersive night walk that transforms the 87-acre Palos Verdes garden into a celestial wonderland. Astra Lumina is part of the international Lumina Enchanted Night Walk series and replaced the garden’s earlier GLOW program after 2021.
The pathway winds through themed light environments — illuminated tree groves, interactive star-and-sky installations, and seasonal sensory moments designed around the celestial-journey storyline.
The garden also offers accessibility-friendly Monday evenings for guests with sensory needs. Plan up to 90 minutes inside the experience once your timed-entry reservation begins. The garden grounds are largely flat with paved walkways suitable for strollers.
Astra Lumina is ticketed timed-entry — buy in advance at southcoastbotanicgarden.org. Members pay less than non-members, children 2 and under are free, and tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Plan for up to 90 minutes inside the experience once your timed-entry reservation begins. The path is set up for unhurried exploration; you can linger as long as you like during your window.
Yes — the garden walkways are paved and largely flat. Strollers are welcome throughout. Wheelchair access is also available.
Paid parking is available on site at the South Coast Botanic Garden lot at 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard. The lot fills on weekend evenings — arrive 15–20 minutes before your reservation.
Astra Lumina is fully ticketed. The garden’s regular daytime admission applies year-round (separate ticket), but the after-dark light experience is Astra Lumina only. South Coast Botanic Garden spans 87 acres on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles County, growing more than 2,500 plant species across what was once an open-pit diatomite mine and, later, a sanitary landfill. In 1961, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved its conversion to a botanic garden, and volunteers planted more than 40,000 donated trees and shrubs that first year, making it widely recognized as the first botanic garden built atop a former landfill. Today it stands as a living example of land reclamation along the South Bay coast.
The Torrance Memorial Holiday Festival is the South Bay’s grand holiday kickoff — a decked-out white tent on the Torrance Memorial Medical Center campus filled with beautifully decorated trees, holiday shopping, children’s activities, and entertainment, and one of Torrance’s longest-running seasonal traditions.
