Tune your car radio to FM 88.3 and watch 40,000+ lights dance across six synchronized homes — Rancho Santa Margarita’s signature free Christmas show.

The Brown Family Lights began as one family’s hobby in 2015 and has grown into a six-house synchronized light spectacle on a quiet Rancho Santa Margarita street. More than 40,000 RGB pixels across the six neighboring homes pulse and dance in sync to a curated soundtrack of classic and modern Christmas music, broadcast to your car radio on FM 88.3.
The show runs in continuous loops every evening from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year’s Eve. Families park along the street and watch from their cars or step outside for a closer look — the homes are open to neighborhood foot traffic and many visitors do both.
The whole display is funded by the Brown family and their neighbors, with a donation collection that supports a local children’s charity each year.
Yes — the entire display is free to watch from your car or on foot. The Brown family collects optional donations at the display that benefit a local children’s charity each season.
Tune your car radio to FM 88.3 when you arrive — the lights are synchronized to the music broadcast on that frequency. You can also step out and listen via the outdoor speakers near the homes.
Nightly from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year’s Eve, with evening show times that typically run a bit later on Friday and Saturday. Confirm the current schedule before you go.
The show spans six adjoining homes on Calle Liberacion in Rancho Santa Margarita (near the corner of Melinda and Santa Margarita Parkway). It’s a residential street — please park considerately and keep voices down out of respect for neighbors.
Nightly from Thanksgiving weekend through New Year’s Eve. The show runs in the evening, with later hours on Friday and Saturday than Sunday through Thursday.

The Brown family display sits in Rancho Santa Margarita, a master-planned community in southern Orange County built around Tijeras Creek and the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains. Construction of the planned community began in 1986, and residents voted to incorporate as Orange County’s 33rd city on January 1, 2000. Its quiet residential streets and pedestrian-friendly cul-de-sacs have made it a natural setting for neighborhood holiday-lighting traditions.
